Data Engineer

The Data Engineer designs, builds, and optimizes data pipelines and systems to ensure the seamless flow of high-quality data. This role collaborates with data governance and analytics teams to support data-driven decision-making and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build ETL/ELT pipelines to clean, transform, and integrate data from various systems.
  • Implement data validation rules and automate data cleansing processes.
  • Design and maintain data warehouses, lakes, and marts to support organizational needs.
  • Integrate data systems using scalable and secure architectures aligned with ISO 27001:2022 standards.
  • Implement data quality frameworks to address completeness, accuracy, integrity, and consistency.
  • Collaborate with the data governance team to integrate business rules into data systems.
  • Use advanced data engineering tools and platforms for profiling, storage, and processing.
  • Incorporate open-source and proprietary technologies like Hadoop, Spark, or cloud-based platforms.
  • Work closely with the data governance specialist to align engineering practices with governance goals.
  • Support data scientists and analysts by providing clean, organized, and well-documented datasets.
  • Ensure data security and accessibility meet regulatory requirements.
  • Develop data access and usage controls to safeguard organizational data.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or equivalent roles.
  • Proficiency in data integration and processing tools (e.g., SQL, Python, Java, Hadoop).
  • Experience with ISO-compliant architectures and data governance integration.
  • Strong problem-solving and optimization skills with a focus on performance and scalability.

Data Governance Specialist

The Data Governance Specialist will develop and enforce data governance frameworks and practices to ensure high-quality, secure, and reliable data. This role supports the organization in implementing robust data management systems aligned with international standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement data governance frameworks based on standards such as ISO 8000, ISO/IEC 38500, COBIT® 5, and DAMA-DMBOK2.
  • Establish data stewardship programs and accountability structures for data quality management.
  • Conduct comprehensive data quality assessments and define data quality dimensions (e.g., accuracy, consistency, completeness, conformity, integrity).
  • Develop data dictionaries, measurement models, and tools for data profiling.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 27001:2022 and other data security and privacy regulations.
  • Develop data quality risk assessments and preventive measures for data governance processes.
  • Define business rules for data quality improvement and data incident management.
  • Integrate fragmented data systems into cohesive, centralized data repositories.
  • Support the formation and training of data quality teams, ensuring the organization has robust structures and skills to maintain data quality.
  • Facilitate coaching for senior management on governance procedures and tools.
  • Monitor data governance metrics and produce reports on the implementation of corrective measures.
  • Develop a data strategy aligned with organizational goals for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data governance or related roles, with expertise in data quality frameworks.
  • Proficiency in using tools for data profiling, cleansing, and analysis.
  • Deep understanding of international standards like ISO 8000, COBIT®, and DAMA-DMBOK2.
  • Strong communication skills and experience in stakeholder engagement.
